Our Mission

The Gender Equity in Hiring Project challenges gender bias in hiring and employment processes in Jewish organizational life to help women and people of all genders rise to positions of leadership.

We equip Jewish organizations with the knowledge and support they need to develop the mindset, skills, and strategies for advocating and experimenting with organizational change and culture shifts.

Our Vision

The Gender Equity in Hiring Project envisions a Jewish community whose workplaces are gender-equitable and bias-free. We pursue a future in which women and people of all genders who serve as Jewish communal professionals are afforded equal opportunity to rise and lead.

Our Values

We believe in the power of equity in Jewish communal workplaces, fostering relationships with those driving our potential for collective impact. We aspire to cultivate the conditions for each person to belong, to learn and to advance, and to partner in the building of safe, respectful and equitable professional communities imbued with the spirit of openness and trust. Our History

GEiHP was born in 2018 with a call to action grounded in the Jewish community’s response to #MeToo and #TimesUp. Continuing with deep listening and an investment in learning together, we crafted a powerful set of strategic interventions, with our Gender Equity Advocates Workshop & Seminar at the heart of our work. Now in 2024, we engage over 200 Gender Equity Advocates and thousands of professionals and volunteer leaders across the Jewish community in challenging gender bias in our Jewish organizations, focused on relational organizing around the needs and concerns of our employees, and building networks of support to make learning and change possible.
